Migration is a complex topic governed by various policies, laws, and institutions. The updated document Organisation of Migration and Asylum Policies in the Slovak Republic provides an overview of the institutions and organizations responsible for different areas of migration from non-EU countries. It also maps key policies, legislative frameworks, and strategic documents governing migration in Slovakia, reflecting new measures and changes in response to current challenges.

New EMN Inform Focuses on the Processing of the Biometric Data of Third-Country Nationals

A newly released European Migration Network (EMN) Inform examines how biometric data of third-country nationals is managed across 24 EMN Member and three Observer Countries. The report, titled “Processing the Biometric Data of Third-Country Nationals,” explores the legal frameworks, operational practices, and associated challenges surrounding the collection, processing, international transfer and storage of this sensitive data during the migration process.

Law Students Explore Migration Decision-Making during Destination Europe Workshop

The International Organization for Migration (IOM), as the coordinator of the European Migration Network (EMN) in Slovakia, conducted the Destination Europe workshop for law students of Trnava University on 27 November 2024. The workshop provided an engaging opportunity for 14 future legal experts to dive into the complexities of migration decision-making through an interactive role-playing activity.

New EMN-OECD Inform Highlights Migration Diplomacy as a Tool for International Cooperation

A new joint inform by the European Migration Network (EMN) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) examines how migration diplomacy can foster global cooperation for effective migration management. Titled “Migration Diplomacy: An Analysis of Policy Approaches and Instruments, the inform explores the diplomatic tools, practices, and challenges involved in migration diplomacy across EMN Member and Observer countries with examples from non-EU OECD countries.
