EMN National Contact Point (NCP) in Greece, holding the EU Presidency in the first half of 2014, organised EMN annual conference on Irregular Migration and Return: Challenges and Practices. The conference was held in Athens on 12-13 June, 2014. The organisers welcomed 180 participants including representatives from the European Commission, 28 EMN National Contact Points, international and regional organisations (e.g. the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights, International Organization for Migration, Migration Policy Institute), national and international academics and researchers, and representatives from governmental departments in third countries.

On June 12, 2014, working breakfast on the upcoming third edition of the EMN Asylum and Migration Glossary was organised in Bratislava. The meeting was attended by representatives of various departments of the Ministry of Interior of the Slovak Republic, Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Family of the Slovak Republic, Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic, and Bureau of the Border and Alien Police of the Police Force Presidium.

On June 10 – 11, 2014, IOM Bratislava as the coordinator of the National Contact Point EMN in the Slovak Republic organized a meeting in Piestany which was attended by selected institutions operating actively in the field of asylum and international protection.

On May 26 – 28, 2014, IOM Bratislava as the coordinator of the EMN National Contact Point in the Slovak Republic organised a thematic seminar in Oscadnica with representatives of the Bureau of the Border and Alien Police of the Police Force Presidium and Departments of the Alien Police from Slovak regions.

On March 21, 2014, the seminar entitled Political Unrest in Ukraine: Socio-Economic Causes and Individual Responses was held in the premises of the Open Society Foundation in Bratislava.
