Visa Policy as a Migration Channel (2012)

This EMN Inform presents the main outcomes of the EMN Study on Visa Policy as a Migration Channel which analyses the nexus between visa policy and migration flows into the EU Member States and Norway with a focus on national visas and their role in the regulation process of legal migration and combating irregular migration.

This EMN Inform presents the main outcomes of the EMN Focussed Study Misuse of the Right to Family Reunification: Marriages of Convenience and False Declaration of Parenthood. It responds to a growing concern, most notably of policymakers as well as the media, that the right to family reunification may be misused as a route into settlement in the EU.

This EMN Inform presents the main findings of the EMN Focussed Study “Establishing Identity for International Protection: Challenges and Practices” undertaken by the EU Member States and Norway. It provides an overview of challenges and their solutions facing national authorities in their efforts to establish the identity of applicants for international protection and for the return of rejected applicants, often in the absence of valid documentation.

This EMN Inform is based on the findings of the EMN Study on Intra-EU mobility of third-country nationals, informed by National Reports from the EU Member States and Norway which provides an overview on related legislation, barriers as well as on statistical data about this phenomenon.

This EMN Inform presents the main findings of the EMN Main Study with the same topic. It provides an overview of the immigration and mobility policies currently implemented by the Member States and Norway to allow international students to enter and stay in the EU for the purpose of study.

This EMN Inform is based on the findings of the EMN Focussed Study 2013 on Attracting Highly Qualified and Qualified Third-Country nationals, informed by National Reports from the EU Member States and Norway, which describes policies and legislative measures of states in this area.

This EMN Inform provides information on the use of quotas by Member States as one of a possible range of measures to manage labour migration from third countries, as well as secondary movements of third country nationals, exercising mobility for the purpose of employment within the EU.

This EMN Inform provides information on the regulatory frameworks used at the national level to manage the migration of third-country nationals to the EU. It is based on information collected from the EU Member States plus Norway as well as relevant reports and studies conducted by the EMN.

This EMN Inform provides an overview of current aspects of return mainly in EU Schengen Member States and Norway including statistics. Information has been drawn from EMN sources: EMN Annual Policy Reports 2012, the EU’s 4th Annual Report on Immigration and Asylum 2012, EMN Country Factsheets 2012 and EMN Ad-Hoc Queries.

This EMN Inform summarises the key findings from the respective of the EMN synthesis report aimed at identifying good practices and existing mechanisms in the EU Member States and Norway to allow for flexible and efficient reception facilities, whilst maintaining quality of reception conditions.
