Fifteen Slovak and foreign experts together with 37 employees of the state and public administration, non-governmental organizations and academic employees from Slovakia participated in the educational seminar entitled Migration Globally and Locally, which was organized from 20 to 23 August 2012 in Bratislava by the National Contact Point of the European Migration Network (EMN) in the Slovak Republic.

On 5 and 6 November, the EMN Annual Conference entitled The Agenda for Growth in the EU: Why Migration Matters took place in Vilnius. Prominent researches, policymakers, representatives from international organisations and academia discussed various aspects of labour migration. The organisers welcomed approximately 130 participants from 26 EU Member States and Norway as well as representatives from third countries including the USA and Canada.

The EMN Annual Conference was this time aimed at international student migration and held in Cyprus on 29 - 30 October 2012. This meeting was organised not only within the framework of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU but was also tied in with the EMN’s main study for 2012 titled Immigration of International students to EU Member States.

In November 2012, IOM International Organization for Migration as the coordinator of the EMN National Contact Point in the Slovak Republic held a thematic seminar with representatives of Bureau of Border and Aliens Police of the Police Force Presidium.

The fourth session of the EU-Russia Migration Dialogue focused on the legal migration issues was held at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic on February 7, 2013.
