EMN Meeting of selected stakeholders operating in the field of legal migration, Kremnica, 14 – 15 October 2014

On October 14 – 15, 2014, IOM Bratislava as the coordinator of EMN activities in Slovakia organized together with the Bureau of the Border and Alien Police of the Police Force Presidium (BBAP PFP) a small scale meeting in Kremnica for representatives of selected stakeholders operating in the area of legal migration. The meeting was attended by representatives of BBAP PFP, offices of labour, social affairs and family, Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Family of the Slovak Republic and IOM Migration Information Centre.

The aim of the meeting was to discuss issues related to the formation and application of legislation concerning legal migration of third-country nationals with special attention to single permit. The attendants discussed the procedure of issuing single permit pursuant to the Act on Residence of Aliens as well as other questions related to the amendment of this Act such acceptance of documents confirming educational attainment or entitlement to work during the decision process about renewal of the temporary residence permit for the purpose of employment. Within discussions, legislative or methodological solutions to individual issues were proposed and attendants were informed about relevant planned measures. During the meeting, the representative of the Slovak EMN National Contact Point presented main EMN outputs and their use in practice including Ad-Hoc Queries and EMN studies dealing with labour migration.
