Annual Report on Migration and Asylum Policies in the Slovak Republic 2012

EMN published Annual Report on Migration and Asylum Policies in the Slovak Republic 2012. The annual report focuses on overview of asylum and migration policy developments in Slovakia, legal migration and mobility, irregular migration and return, international protection including asylum, unaccompanied minors and other vulnerable groups, actions against trafficking in human beings, migration and development policy as well as implementation of EU legislation. The annual report is available for download in Slovak as well as in English.
New EMN Synthesis Reports

European Commission published synthesis reports on Establishing Identity for International Protection: Challenges and Practices and Immigration of International Students to the EU. Reports summarise main findings from the EU Member States’ national studies and analyse current state of play within the European context.
The latter is accompanied by the EMN Inform which briefly describes an actual state in the field of migration of third-country students to the EU.
Based on the EMN study on Immigration of International Students to the EU, the European Commission has proposed new Directive that will replace two current Directives on Students and Researchers.
European Commission prepared EMN Bulletin’s third issue

European Commission’s third issue of the EMN Bulletin informs about actual situation, outputs and statistics in the field of migration, integration and asylum at EU and Member State level. It covers the period of time from October 2012 to January 2013 and is available in electronic as well as pdf version.

Working breakfast on the upcoming EMN study

International Organization for Migration (IOM) as the coordinator of the EMN activities in Slovakia held a working breakfast on the upcoming EMN focussed study titled Attracting Highly-Qualified and Qualified Third-Country Nationals: Good Practices and Lessons Learned. IOM representatives introduced approved study content and discussed the situation in the Slovak Republic as well as availability of data and statistics in the related areas with invited participants.
EMN was invited to the meeting on Cooperation Possibilities for the Information and Advisory EU Networks Operating in Slovakia

Representatives of the IOM International Organization for Migration as the coordinator of the EMN National Contact Point in the Slovak Republic participated in the working meeting organised by the European Commission Representation in Slovakia on 27 February 2013. Fourth session of EU-Russia Migration Dialogue in Bratislava
The fourth session of the EU-Russia Migration Dialogue focused on the legal migration issues was held at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic on February 7, 2013. Click here to read more about the meeting.
EMN participated in the conference on highly skilled migrants in Slovakia
Representatives of the Slovak EMN NCP took part in the conference on Migration Flows Management - High Skilled Migrants in Slovakia. The conference was organised by the American Chamber of Commerce in the Slovak Republic on 31 January 2013. Further information about the conference can be found here.
EMN gave a presentation at the Ministry of Education expert seminar

On 17 January 2013, SK EMN NCP representative presented main results and outcomes from the EMN study on Immigration of International Students to the Slovak Republic at the Ministry of Education seminar entitled Challenges and Views on Migration Connected with Free Movement of Persons and Recognition of Professional Qualifications within the European Union. EMN Conference on Migration of International Students from Third Countries to Slovakia and EU
