International Day for Abolition of Slavery
In 1984, the International Day for the Abolition of Slavery was declared by the General Assembly on 2 December to commemorate the adoption of the UN Convention for the Suppression of the Traffic in Persons and of the Exploitation of the Prostitution of Others of 1949.
